pointed me to
this eLearn article on a topic which is a source for a lot of friction in online classrooms: conflict in online teams. I think Dr Doole analyses the issue in an intelligent and constructive manner, and I would recommend adopting many of his suggestions. I differ with him on the issue of assigning groups. It is my experience that groups that are formed by the participants are more self reliant than groups defined by the instructor. Nevertheless, groups should be given guidance as to how to choose group members, and Dr Doole's points, such as paying attention to time zones, are valid.
